The Orchards retirement village in Glenfield celebrated its completion with a fantastic party in village. Residents and staff who worked on the project came together to congratulate each other on a job well done as the next chapter of the village’s life is set to begin. Construction first began on The Orchards in mid-2014 on what was a small field with a rich local history, this is reflected in the original farmhouse still on the site and now home to the Cox House Cafe. It was successfully completed in September 2016 and is now home to an active community of residents making the most of the superb retirement lifestyle The Orchards offers.
This village is Metlifecare’s first eco-friendly village and carries a 6 Homestar built rating, this means it has double the sustainability and efficiency of the standard New Zealand home. Residents enjoy warmer, dryer homes that are more economical to run due to the various special features each apartment.
