7 Saint Vincent residents are spoilt when Aki takes her seat behind the village piano. On top of her duties as one of the villages dedicated Home Support Workers, Aki treats residents and staff alike with her beautiful performances and warm interaction with the audience.
“ I learnt to play the piano 14 years ago when I was a child. In Japan I went to university to study music therapy & I played the piano in a residential home for older people. We would also sing together. Since I have come to NZ, I don’t have enough time to practice. Playing the piano is my favourite hobby” says Aki.
And residents love it when she practises:
“She looks so happy when she plays, it’s very uplifting.”
“Wonderful variety of music. A pleasure to sit and listen.”
“Aki’s playing is lovely, it makes you want to smile.”
