Most people start slowing down when they’re in their 80’s, but for Joan Fulljames, the easy, peace-of-mind serviced apartment living at Pinesong has given her the freedom to thrive.
After 60 years living in the beautiful bush clad suburb of Titirangi, Pinesong was top of the list, when Joan decided it was time to move out of the family house. With her husband passing away, she had become somewhat isolated and really missed the companionship that had always been such a big part of her life.
“We lived in three different houses in Titirangi, each one of them well off the main road, so it was always very peaceful, but they weren’t the kind of places where people just dropped by. When you’re by yourself, you don’t really want to be stuck in the bush, which is one reason Pinesong appealed,” says Joan.
“Here I have an apartment with doors that open out into a courtyard – there are people passing by and regularly popping in, plus I’ve got great mates just down the hallway. There’s a real community here and I love it.”
Joan has a mobility scooter which gives her the freedom to explore many parts of Auckland via the West Auckland rail line. But Joan’s travel itinerary isn’t just limited to Auckland. A few years back she had a major overseas excursion that included visits to New York, London and Paris! And in the coming months she’s heading to the Hunter Valley in Australia to celebrate her daughters birthday and then flying up to Cairns!
“One of the best things about having a Pinesong serviced apartment is that I can lock up, go away and know that everything is safe and sound.”
Joan has now been a serviced apartment resident for almost 3 years and she wouldn’t change a thing. “I really couldn’t be in a better place.”
