METLIFECARE COVID-19 UPDATE FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY
19 March 2020
To our supporters and communities,
As you will be aware, the Government has recently announced extended precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Metlifecare has also implemented further actions that we believe will help us protect our village communities – and your loved ones – from COVID-19.
Visiting our village
While we have cancelled all Open Days and large group visits to our villages, we are currently still allowing visits from friends and families.
We have implemented a new sign-in process to help keep our residents safe.
When you visit, please go to reception, sign in at the kiosk, and sign a Declaration Form to confirm you are well upon entering our villages; have not travelled overseas in the last 14 days; and are not living with someone who is in self-isolation. This is in line with Ministry of Health guidance. You may be declined entry if there are any concerns that you do not meet the screening criteria.
To keep our residents safe, we ask that you avoid communal areas within the village, such as cafes.
Visiting our care home
We have also restricted access to our care homes. Visiting hours will be limited to when there is someone at reception or a staff member available to check incoming visitors. Doors to care homes will be locked where possible so there is no automatic entry. Restricting visitors allows us to protect our most vulnerable care home residents – please phone ahead to find out the current visiting hours.
We are making our decisions with the health and wellbeing of our residents and staff as our top priority.
We recognise that this may be an anxious and uncertain time for you and we assure you that we are well prepared for a potential outbreak and we are taking every precaution we can to protect your loved ones.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
