Heart of it all Award winners battle it out at sea
The winners of Metlifecare’s annual staff Heart of it All awards found themselves on the high seas last week.
To recognise their achievements in leadership, management, sales and innovation, the nine winners were invited to take part in the annual Great Blake Race, a team-building regatta on Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour in honour of yachting legend Sir Peter Blake. They enjoyed a tough day’s sailing under the helm of Metlifecare CEO Glen Sowry, a former professional sailor.
The regatta – featuring Steinlager 2, Lion NZ and other yachts skippered by equally high-profile skippers – and the charity auction after raised around $30,000 for the Sir Peter Blake Trust’s Young Blake Expedition programmes which take young New Zealanders on life-changing adventures that follow in the footsteps of Sir Peter and continue his legacy. These adventures expose them to rare scientific and environmental opportunities that equip them with essential skills to become our future leaders.
Congratulations again to our 2016 Metlifecare Heart of it All Award winners.
