It’s all about you this Valentine’s Day
After years of hard work and high stress, being a village resident gives you the license to relax, enjoy life, and treat yourself.
So we’ve put together five easy ways for you to show yourself a bit of love this Sunday.
1. Breakfast in Bed
Treat yourself to a breakfast in bed made the night before, so all the hard work is done and only the relaxing remains.
Prep this Cream Scone recipe, courtesy of Bon Appétit, the day before, then store at room temperature. Serve up the next morning as is or lightly heated in a microwave or oven, before jumping into bed and digging in.
To make this breakfast even more special, serve with an easy 10-minute Chia Seed Jam by GimmeSomeOven made ahead of time.
2. Make a DIY Face Mask
Skincare is proven to improve stress levels, treat wrinkles, and boost confidence. If you’re willing to try something new to soften and hydrate your skin, give this simple DIY face mask a go.
Combine the following ingredients:
- ½ Ripe avocado (mashed until few lumps remain)
- 1 Tbsp plain organic yoghurt
- 1 Tsp honey
Apply to your face for 10-15 minutes (avoiding your hairline), then rinse off with warm water.
3. Enjoy a Strawberry Mojito
Once the face mask is on, it’s time to put your feet up, relax, and drink something delicious. This 5-minute BBC Strawberry Mojito recipe is simple, easy and the perfect refresher to enjoy alone or with friends during summer.
4. Quiz or Movie night
Now it’s time to curl up on the couch with your Mojito and enjoy some Sunday telly.
If you’re a sports fan, catch the America’s Cup – PRADA Cup live action on TV1 at 4pm, and know who will take on Team New Zealand in March.
Or, treat yourself to your favourite quiz show with The Celebrity Chase on TV1 at 7:30pm.
If you’re in the mood for a more classic romance – with some time-travelling involved – comedy-drama About Time is on Netflix.
5. Read a Book
What’s more relaxing than enjoying the sunshine while reading a classic novel? The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes is a historical fiction novel based on a true story.
It follows the journey of five women in Kentucky, delivering books to the less-fortunate and changing people’s lives. It celebrates women’s friendship, true love, and the power of books and reading.
It’s the small things in life that can sometimes bring the greatest happiness. So whether it’s putting your feet up, reading a book in the sun, or baking, make sure to treat yourself to something special this Sunday.
