Battle of the Poets
It would seem that our resident poet Fred has some stiff competition, Fred wrote a lovely poem recently that was published to the Metlifecare website, which earned a response from Shirley – a resident from Bayswater Village in Tauranga.
Read Shirley’s response below:
Good Morning Fred, where’er’ you are, on this very sunny day,
I’m sending you this email because we really want to say-
-how much we loved the poem you penned to Metlife in a letter—
– you wrote it all in` longhand’ too—now that was even better!
Such nice tributes to your front-line folk – you covered them so nicely,
And ours are in our thoughts as well—Oh Yes! by Joves! Precisely!
We get reams of `how-to papers’ in our boxes for perusal-
And while that’s quite ok these days, of course it’s not unusual
We must wash our hands-help `break the chain’, stand back and please don’t touch-
It’s such a little thing to do and doesn’t cost us muchl
We’ve been around this kind of thing – the war taught us a lot,
Remember that was six years long and this is just a jot.
It’s one o’clock –it’s time to go –I’ve got the Tele’ on the station!
Jacinda’s coming in a moment with the update on our Nation!
So to all who work in our Village with your loving caring ways,
Thank you for your cheerfulness and your special can-do ways.
Fred then responded to Shirley’s response…. read below.
It’s nice to know I’m not alone in putting things to rhyme,
so thank you Shirley Crompton for giving up your time.
I loved your little poem, the compliments as well
they really made Fred happy and that is really swell.
I always thought this place ws great it turns out I was right.
I hope they you’ll keep happy and that applies to all
and that the folk who care fo you, like ours are on the ball.
Awesome work Fred & Shirley I can’t wait for the next one.
