COVID-19 update – Government removes remaining restrictions

Yesterday the Government announced that the remaining COVID-19 mask mandate and isolation requirements would be lifted from 12:01am Tuesday 15 August 2023.

These changes effectively mean that, from today, there is no longer a mandate for you to wear a mask when visiting one of our care homes under normal circumstances.

However, as an aged care provider there may be occasions where we will implement greater protections for our residents and require a mask to be worn – for example if there is a COVID-19 or other infectious disease outbreak in the care home. Any changes to visiting guidelines will be communicated promptly to all residents and their families.

We also remind all family and friends not to visit our care homes if you are unwell or have any indication of COVID-19 symptoms.

In addition, Metlifecare employees will still be expected to stay at home for five days if they have COVID-19 and not return to work until they are symptom-free.

Please be reassured that we continue to follow standard Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures, ensuring that the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and team remains our top priority.

Thank you for your ongoing support. If you have any questions please contact your care home team, who are here to help.
