Care Testimonial

We are so grateful for how seamless our mother’s transition has been from her independent living apartment into the care home, which quickly felt like home to her.

My daughter and I had a recent visit back to New Zealand, soon after Mum’s move to the care home. We visited every day while we were on the coast. And every day we experienced an extremely clean and calm setting with consistently attentive and caring staff.

It starts with the professional and welcoming manner at the front desk and carries through the entire centre – in how staff interact with residents, visitors, and each other. We really appreciated the consistent – but never pushy – encouragement for Mum to take part in the wide-ranging, fun activity schedule.

I wish that the care home team and management could have been there to hear every time a resident – totally unprompted – said to us:

“Oh, they take such good care of us here — they are all so kind.”

What I observed in many small moments is what genuine care looks like - not performed for an audience, but quietly and consistently, every day.

Based on my 30+ years working in healthcare in New Zealand and abroad – including many long-term care facilities – I know a well-run place when I see it. A real tell-tale sign is how staff treat and help each other, and how they behave when it seems no one is watching. It seems that this organisation recognises and values the important work of the care providers. When staff feel valued and respected, they carry a positive attitude with them into all their interactions with residents. We witnessed the same exemplary care on our recent visit as the great care my father received in this same care home over seven years ago, further confirming for us that this is the “way of life” here. For me living away, it is so important and appreciated that I can trust the care to be consistently excellent.

Mum is comfortable, calm, content and so well cared for. We can’t ask for more than that in her important last life chapter. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you.
