METLIFECARE RECEIVES CONSENT FOR GOLF COURSE VILLAGE- FAIRWAY GARDENS
The Resource consent has been granted for all stages of the $180 million development on the corner of Botany and Cascades roads with the first 48 premium apartments expected to be completed around mid-2021.
Metlifecare CEO Glen Sowry says he is excited by the opportunity to build New Zealand’s first-ever retirement village to be located on a golf course, in a prime area of Auckland real estate.
“It’s a great milestone to break ground on what we believe will be a village unlike any other, with unobstructed access to an outstanding golf course and real community integration that promotes wellness and social interaction,” he said.
The village holds clear appeal for golf lovers – many of Pakuranga Golf Club’s members have already registered interest. But the warm, contemporary design, premium amenities including outdoor covered lounge, bar and café, wellbeing space, beauty salon, swimming pool, gym and spa, and prime location just a short walk from Botany Town Centre and Lloyd Elsmore Park, ensures a wider appeal.
Community consultation informs naming of unique East Auckland retirement village, ‘Fairway Gardens’
The announcement of the name and logo for Fairway Gardens, follows a well-attended community information event held at the golf course in mid-2019. Metlifecare shared the masterplan and architectural concept design, followed by a feedback session on name, design and layout.
“The name reflects the village’s seamless integration with the golf course and the expansive views across the green,” Glen Sowry CEO Metlifecare said. “It was fantastic to involve the community in the process, which showed a clear desire for the unique location and facilities to inform its identity.”

Earthworks are underway for ‘Fairway Gardens’
You might have seen earthworks and site clearing have started on site. It is always disappointing when we have to cut down mature trees. Thankfully most are past their best and do pose a threat with large falling branches. Rest assured we will be undertaking extensive replanting of the Cascade Road frontage in the not too distant future.
Site screening signage will go up along Botany Road (watch this space) and the web site will continue to evolve over the coming months as plans become available www.fairwaygardens.co.nz
There are plans for an on-site information and sales centre which you will be notified of as soon as it is ready for viewing later this year.
