Everything you need to know about our referring a friend to a Metlifecare village.
Frequently asked questions
You can refer a potential new resident to any participating Metlifecare retirement village excluding Metlifecare Palmerston North Village.
The referral must be for a villa or apartment (care homes are excluded).
To make a valid referral, you must:
- Complete the official Metlifecare referral form
- Submit it to the Village Sales Executive during the promotional period (12 January 2026 – 30 September 2026)
- Ensure the referral form is submitted before Metlifecare receives a completed application form from the friend you are referring
If multiple referral forms are received for the same person, only the first referral form received for a person during the promotional period will be recognised.
Note that your friend must ensure that the Commencement Date of their Occupation Right Agreement occurs on or before 30 September 2026. Our usual resident criteria (including satisfaction of any medical conditions) to the Occupation Right Agreement apply.
Yes. Before submitting a referral form, you must ensure your friend:
- Is aware they are being referred, and
- Consents to Metlifecare receiving their personal information and contacting them for the purposes of processing their application and running this promotion.
Their information will be handled in accordance with Metlifecare’s Privacy Policy.
For the referring resident and the referred friend, the $1,000 referral payments are paid on the 25th day of the month following the month in which your friend’s Occupation Right Agreement (ORA) Commencement Date occurs.
The $500 village reward is allocated within 10 business days after the end of the promotional period:
- If your village has a Residents’ Committee, $500 is paid into the Committee’s nominated bank account
- If there is no Residents’ Committee, a $500 Prezzy card is provided to the Village Manager to allocate on behalf of residents.
If all conditions are met:
- You (the referring resident) receive $1,000
- Your referred friend receives $1,000
- Residents’ Committee receives $500 for every referral to your village.
Your $1,000 referral reward will be paid directly into your nominated bank account.
Once your friend’s ORA Commencement Date has occurred, payment is made on the 25th day of the following month.
Only one referral will be accepted. The eligible referral is the first referral form received by Metlifecare during the promotional period. Any later referrals for the same person will not qualify.
No. Unless otherwise stated or agreed by Metlifecare, this promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount, offer, or promotion.
- No reward is paid if the ORA is cancelled or terminated before payment is made
- If the ORA is cancelled during the cooling-off period or under the 90-day Money Back Guarantee, Metlifecare may deduct the reward from any refund payable to you and/or your friend
Yes. Metlifecare reserves the right to amend, extend, suspend, or terminate the promotion at any time.

Yes. In addition to our standard Resident Referral Incentives, Metlifecare also offers Staff and Community-specific referral incentives:
- Under the Standard Resident Referral programme, residents may receive a $1,000 referral reward when their referral results in a completed sale. Payments are made in line with the applicable Terms & Conditions.
- Under the Staff Referral programme, staff may also receive a $1,000 referral reward when their referral results in a completed sale. Payments are made in line with the applicable Terms & Conditions. Further details can be found on MetNet.
- Metlifecare also offer Sponsorship, Community, and Business Partner referrals, including referrals from sponsorship clubs, community organisations, local businesses, and professional partners (where applicable). These referrals may also qualify for a $1,000 referral reward on completed sales, subject to Terms & Conditions.
