Your life, your way
At Papamoa Beach Village we empower you to live life your way. Strong advocates of resident-directed care, our team strives to meet the unique and evolving needs of each resident. This is not a routine type of care home! There are no lists, and we shape each day around what each resident feels like. Every day feels unique and different, just how our staff and residents like it.
Rest home and hospital level care with a difference
Our state-of-the-art care home is light years away from your traditional care home, delivering a new gold standard for aged care in the Bay of Plenty. Based on Metlifecare’s integrated homestead model of care, residents live in small groups of no more than 12, with each group having their own kitchen, dining room and lounge area. Dine or socialise with other residents or use the shared spaces to entertain – or even cook – with your family and friends. As our happy residents and families will attest, this intimate home-like layout dishes up a far more rewarding lifestyle than your stereotypical care home.
While people with mild dementia are well supported at other villages, the Toi Toi Community is Metlifecare’s first dedicated care wing for people with advanced dementia. Featuring the same award-winning homestead design as the village’s 24-bed rest home and hospital level care wings, our dementia unit provides a home-like environment, with care individually crafted around each of our 16 residents’ needs. Residents and their families can prepare food together in the shared kitchen, enjoy social occasions in the intimate dining and lounge areas, and for a bit of ‘me time’ there’s a private secure garden with unique features for stimulation and interest.
Highly experienced in end of life care, our skilled and compassionate team of nurses ensure residents are comfortable and provide invaluable support to families during this challenging time.
